Dental provider credentialing has never been easier
11/24/2021
Just like any other healthcare provider, dental practitioners are required to initiate the credentialing process in order to become enrolled with any insurance or a benefit plan.
However, this process is a little bit tricky because dental insurance plans are almost always part of separate, dental enrollment networks. Hence, panels for such plans are opened distinctively from medical plans. Moreover, dental credentialing may take up to 180 days to be completed.
Nevertheless, the enrollment process itself for dental providers is no different from the one experienced by all other provider specialties. Namely, dental providers are still required to provide a basic list of documentation in order to initiate their credentialing process. This list includes, but is not limited to:
• NPI
• Demographics
• License information
• Office address(es)
• Tax ID and W9 form
• Education certificates
• Voided check
• CLIA certification (if applicable).
In most cases, dental credentialing takes approximately 3 weeks to be completed.
