Effective June 04, 2020, there is new guidance approved by HHS. It specifies details on the additional data which has to be reported to HHS by laboratories along with COVID-19 test results.
Which entity is
required to report the data?
All laboratories,
testing locations operating as temporary overflow or remote locations and
facilities which perform testing at the point of care or with at-home specimen
collection related to COVID-19, must report information for all testings
completed and for each individual tested.
When and how should a
lab report the information?
It is obligatory to
submit the data within 24 hours of results being determined using the following
ways:
- Directly to state or local public health
departments.
- Electronically to the organizations mentioned above via
the Association of Public Health Laboratories’ AIMS platform or another
centralized platform.
- Via Health Information Exchange (HIE).
