Does the provider’s special “Non-Patient Facing” status exclude him/her from the MIPS program?
Question:
Does the provider’s special “Non-Patient Facing” status exclude him/her from the MIPS program or an exclusion is being applied only to a specific performance category?
Answer provided by the Quality Payment Program (QPP) Help Desk:
Being Non-Patient-Facing is considered Special Status. Provider can use NPI Lookup Tool to see if a he/she was considered officially non-patient-facing. If this is found to be true, then the provider is exempt from reporting under the Advancing Care Information category, but still required to report Quality and Improvement Activities.
