The Quality Payment Program Hardship Exception Application for the 2017 Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) transition year is now available.
Certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) is required to participate in the advancing care information performance category. MIPS-eligible clinicians and groups may qualify for a reweighting of their advancing care information performance category score to 0 percent of the final score if they meet certain criteria.
Some MIPS-eligible clinicians who are considered Special Status will be automatically reweighted and do not need to submit a Quality Payment Program Hardship Exception Application.
